Mama Hope

Mama Hope is the story of a daughter who turned her mother’s simple acts of kindness into an extraordinary legacy of hope, dynamism, and success.

‘In 2006 Nyla Rodgers suffered the sudden loss of her mother, Stephanie Moore, to cancer. In an effort to heal from her loss, Nyla traveled to Kenya to meet a young man whose education her mother had sponsored since 2001. To her surprise, she was greeted by hundreds of others whom her mom had also helped. Nyla describes that day as the day that her work found her … and Mama Hope was born.’*

Mama Hope works with African based organizations to connect them with the resources required to transform their own communities.

Nyla and her team believe ‘that there are enough resources in the world for every human being to live healthy, happy lives. Mama Hope funds projects in the areas of agriculture and food security, water, health, education, shelter, women’s empowerment and the environment. The key to Mama Hope’s success is all the projects are managed by local communities to ensure sustainability.

Through Nyla’s strength, vision, and dedication Mama Hope has improved the lives of over 76,000 people in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana and Uganda.

Aroma Therapy

Aroma Therapy

One of the tiny joys in life is being momentarily overwhelmed by a scent; the delicious lemony depth of an old fashioned rose, the tingling spiciness of ginger, or the exotic sweet headiness of jasmine.

The sense of smell is the oldest of our senses (hearing and seeing are younger senses). Smelling takes place through approximately ten million olfactory nerve cells of the mucous membrane at the root of our nose. This mucous membrane is the only place in the body where the central nervous system is open and in direct contact with the outer world. Its cells are brain cells. Their eighty million fine hair cells gather an unimaginably large amount of information with each breath that we take. Therefore the use of aromatherapy can have a powerful effect on our nervous system.

One of our favorite essential oil is ginger:

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah and Trancendental Meditation

Oprah Winfrey, American media proprietor, businesswoman, talk show host, producer, and philanthropist is ‘the’ woman that comes to mind when we think of influential and inspirational women. Not only is her talk show the highest rated program of its kind in history but she serves as a role model for women everywhere, encouraging them to love and accept themselves for who they are. ‘The Oprah Effect’, the power of Oprah’s opinions and endorsements to influence public opinion, is an acknowledged phenomenon. Oprah’s charity, Orpah’s Angel Network, raised more than $80,000,00 for charitable projects and grants to nonprofit organizations around the world.

Recently Oprah learned the Transcendental Meditation® technique.
