Consciousness Based Education–from Kindergarten to PhD

The Global Mother Divine Organization offers an approach to education, for girls and women, that is designed to develop the total potential of every student.

Consciousness Based Education™ (Total Knowledge Based education) utilizes unique educational methods to enliven the inner intelligence, creativity, and happiness latent within the consciousness of the student. Consciousness Based Education connects all disciplines of knowledge to the field of consciousness, the students’ own consciousness, or Self. Each subject the student learns becomes very personal, meaningful, and relevant because she understands how it relates to her own life, and how it connects to every other branch of knowledge.

The Curriculum

The curriculum for Consciousness Based Education includes the study of the standard subjects—mathematics, science, language, social sciences, sports, the arts, writing, computer skills, etc.—as well as the study of consciousness and its relationship to the standard subjects. The study of consciousness has an experiential as well as an intellectual component.

The Experiential Component

Consciousness Based Education makes use of the natural, effortless Transcendental Meditation® and its advanced programmes for developing the students’ full inner potential. Students start and end every school day with Transcendental Meditation.

The Transcendental Meditation technique allows the mind to settle down, drawing the attention inward, beyond thought, to experience the source of thought, pure awareness, also known as Transcendental Consciousness—the most silent, peaceful, and fully awake level of consciousness. EEG readings taken during the practice of Transcendental Meditation show that the mind and body are experiencing a state of remarkably deep rest along with heightened wakefulness. In this state of restful alertness, the brain functions with significantly greater coherence, and stress in the nervous system dissolves. One’s ability to deal with challenging situations and achieve excellence spontaneously increases. 

Students in Consciousness Based schools also learn the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme which significantly enhances the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation technique. Extensive research published in leading scientific journals has shown that when the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, is practised in groups, there is a reduction in societal stress, crime, violence, and conflict, and an increase in coherence, positivity, and peace in the society as a whole. Students practising the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme together in groups make a significant, direct contribution to world peace, reduced crime, and a better society, without having to sacrifice their student years during which they need to give their full attention to preparing themselves for a blissful, fulfilling life. 

The Intellectual Component

Because the Transcendental Meditation technique develops increasing use of the total brain, strengthening the cognitive, physiological, and affective foundations of learning, while promoting more healthy life-style choices and positive behaviour, students are better able to focus sharply while maintaining broad comprehension. 

The intellectual study of consciousness focuses on disciplines that are appropriate for each grade level as well as on the source of each discipline in the field of Transcendental Consciousness. Students learn that Transcendental Consciousness is the most basic level of their own awareness and the most fundamental level of nature’s intelligence—the unified field of the laws of nature. They also discover how every branch of knowledge arises from this unified field. Students feel increasingly at home with whatever they are studying, and see the underlying unity of all knowledge.

In addition, students are shown how their techniques for developing consciousness can be practically applied towards solving the most difficult problems being faced today in the areas of education, health, rehabilitation, administration, etc. In this way, every student gains the knowledge necessary to create substantial, positive change in the world.

Stress-Free, Healthy Lifestyle

Consciousness Based schools, colleges, and universities provide a healthy, stress-free routine and environment. Buildings are constructed according to architectural principles of natural law, bringing an influence of vitality and clarity to the students. Organic vegetarian food is served. The practice of Transcendental Meditation by everyone in the school or university creates an atmosphere of peace and clarity that is very conducive to learning.

Separate Schools for Girls

Extensive experience, corroborated by research, shows that when boys and girls are educated separately they focus and learn more easily, and perform at higher academic levels; girls more readily develop leadership qualities, and are more satisfied with their education. Consciousness Based Education supports this finding that girls develop more fully in their own atmosphere.
